NAFI PARTICIPATION IN THE SEMINAR ON COMBATING MONEY LAUNDERING AND TERRORISM FINANCING IN THE BANKING SECTOR FROM 21 TO 23 MARCH 2017 IN TUNIS

From 21 to 23 March 2017 was held in the Central Bank of Tunisia a seminar jointly organised by the Institute of the Central Bank of Tunisia (IBCT) and the Banking and Financial Institute of the Bank of France (IBFI), on "the fight against money laundering and the financing of terrorism in the banking sector"
In addition to the representative of the NAFI, officials of the FIU of Palestine, the Central Banks of Morocco, Mauritania, the Republic of Guinea, Comoros, Russia, New Caledonia, West African States, Central African the States and Tunisia also took part at the seminar.
This seminar was conducted using a double approach: presentation of the various modules by the facilitators on the one hand, and presentations by participating FIUs on the other.
The aim of the presentations was to highlight the AML/CFT surveillance obligations and mechanisms in the banking sector. There were four namely:
- anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing (AML/CFT) standards;
- Tunisia's anti-money laundering and terrorism financing mechanism applicable in the banking sector;
- the state of affairs in the fight against money laundering and the financing of terrorism;
- on-the-spot control by the Prudential Control and Resolution Authority (PCRA).

With respect to the FIU presentations, the purpose of which was to share national experiences in AML/CFT, there were also four presentations by representatives of:
- the Tunisian Commission for Financial Analysis (CTAF);
- the NAFI of Cameroon;
- the financial monitoring unit of the State of Palestine;
- the Central Bank of Russia (Financial Monitoring and Foreign Exchange Control Department).
